Mays also smacked 660 career home runs (sixth-most in MLB history), won 12 Gold Gloves in center field (tied for the most of any outfielder all-time with Roberto Clemente), and was a 24-time All-Star (tied for second-most all-time; Hank Aaron, 25). Mays also served two years in the military, fighting in the Korean War at the start of his MLB career.
